Jan. 29--Link-Belt Construction Equipment, which employs 850 at its Palumbo Road plant, will soon become part of a joint venture with its current owner, Sumitomo Construction Machinery, and Case Corp.
The plan is for Case to gain a 50 percent stake in Sumitomo's Link-Belt subsidiary, which makes and markets excavators and cranes, the companies announced last week.
In North America, the joint venture will market a full line of Sumitomo-designed excavators through the two companies' distribution networks. The companies have not said what brand the excavators will wear.
